Recovery and nutrition matter.

Forget corporate marketing.

Its all over social media & other fitness media. People on all sorts of gear, promoting the idea that to achieve results you need to train hard, 7 days a week, no rest or recovery.

The fitness industry has no shortage of online coaches who over promise. Setting ridiculous unsustainable standards. Often claiming to be natural when using gear.

Promises of an athletes body in 12 weeks, personalised dietary plans etc. We all see it.

#HardTruth time.

Recovery - No one can lift heavy weights or do intense cardio conditioning 7 days a week. The highest levels of athletes don’t even do that.

Basic principles of sport science and exercise show how silly that is. Gear might make it doable but I would still venture to say there’s more benefit in having at least one day a week, doing a gentle walk at most. If you like to train hard and often, you might even need two days of active recovery.

Training stimulates muscles, rest allows adaption to that stimulus, growing stronger and fitter. Without recovery we ultimately end up plateauing and over time are likely to go backward.

There’s added risk of auto immune conditions developing etc from overdoing everything.

I get the constant struggle to allow recovery. As a person with #ADHD its even harder again. Its vital though.

Nutrition - although us #personaltrainers can give basic nutrition advice, adhering to the Australia Healthy Eating guidelines we cannot give meal plans, individualised approaches etc as its out of our scope.

It is a much bigger process that requires tracking and tweaking the macro and calorie intake based on every individual’s circumstances and requires the support of an accredited dietician to get down to the nitty gritty. In aus nutritionist cannot deliver individualised advice.

Train hard but smart. Set realistic patterns for your circumstances. Its a process. Results come down to accepting that. The most successful rely on that knowledge. Not being marketable we don’t hear or see it.

Different body types exist. Thats a post for another day though.

Even the coach has homework.

Today the theme, where are those hands!!!

As much as we will never be perfect we can strive for continuous growth and self development.

Its been a big day with sparring this morning and after getting one on one coaching myself curtesy of @weerawat37 but still had time to get a little slow drilling work in to focus on hands.

Tomorrow will be going more for speed drills a d longer in general but its always important to stay humble and keep learning myself or I couldn’t be considered much of a #PT or gym operator tbh.

These sort of things might be the bread and butter basics but so important to do the work on them.

God this #MauyThai thing is addictive ahah.

Sessions can be 45 mins, 60 mins, or, for those who have developed more experience and can display a suitable level of safety awareness, 30 mins. I also find the 30 min option is good for young children who are recieving coaching, particularly with the combat training approach.

If you or you have a loved one who is a #NDIS recipient and needs some fitness guidance, so long as they are self or fund managed, we can become a part of their plan.

These #NDIS services can also extend into other area’s if need be (home, in the community etc).
